Three projects selected for the STA 100

Echo Vie, Top Crop, and Omega Yeast Labs join the 2026 archive

By Kyle Eertmoed

The STA 100 honors the hundred best examples of typographic excellence produced anywhere in the world each year. With Totto's Market selected in 2025, that makes four Eertmoed Studio projects in the archive across two years. Congrats to everyone selected this year. Three Eertmoed Studio projects have been selected for the 2026 STA 100.

1 / Echo Vie Brand Identity & Packaging — Echo Vie was created by Susie Lee, a makeup artist and four-time cancer survivor whose experience with illness changed how she thought about everything she put in and on her body. Most skincare branding had settled into the same clinical aesthetic, so the packaging had to feel like something else. We landed on ivory feltmark paper, a hand-drawn botanical illustration, and gold foil on custom triangular boxes. The name translates from French as a reflection of life, and the EV monogram draws from classic Parisian lettering and French apothecary references. Printed by Rohner Press, with Kim Knoll at Knoed Creative. View case study →

2 / Top Crop Brand Identity & Website — Top Crop is an educational brand and website for brewers at every level, built on Omega Yeast Labs' expertise without turning it into a sales pitch. The ambition was to break entirely from the skulls, flames, and blackletter that had become shorthand for craft beer. Each major content release was reprinted as a broadsheet newspaper, distributed at industry events out of custom refurbished dispensers and sold on the site for 50¢. The papers sold out and needed a second run. The work took a 2024 Craft Beer Marketing Platinum Crushie for Best Website. View case study →

3 / Omega Yeast Labs Brand IdentityOmega Yeast Labs grows over 75 strains of liquid yeast for craft brewers. Rather than leading with science, we led with the material. We activated Omega's yeast in a warm sugar solution, mixed it with India ink, and scanned the organic textures that emerged. Those fifteen yeast paintings became the foundation of the visual identity, and the logo pairs a clean letter O with a budding yeast cell. Within a year of launch, Omega saw customer growth of over 100% and revenue growth of over 150%. In 2024 the company was acquired by AB Mauri North America. View case study →

The STA 100 has been running for 48 years, put on by the Society of Typographic Arts, a Chicago nonprofit founded in 1927. The field is narrowed to 100 by a panel of four judges, each of whom also names a Judge's Choice. Winners are announced at a live event followed by an open discussion of the year's work. For the first time since Covid, the STA is printing a book of the winners this year. All four Eertmoed Studio entries can be seen on the studio page.

Selection also means the work enters the Chicago Design Archive. The CDA has been the permanent online record of Chicago graphic, product, and experiential design since 2003, covering work from the 1920s forward. It started as roughly 900 slides shown once at the Society of Typographic Arts' 75th anniversary in 2002, and it now holds over 4,000 examples from 1,200 designers across 480 firms. A good share of that growth comes from the juries of the STA-sponsored annual competitions, which is how these projects land there. Echo Vie, Top Crop, Omega Yeast Labs, and Totto's Market are in the collection now, alongside Hedge House work from 2014.
